Atsuko Murakami Cabanas, 106, of Hilo died March 10 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Hakalau, she was a retired co-owner and seamstress for the former S. Cabanas Tailor. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by son, Wendell (Gabriella) Cabanas of Hilo; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Henry James Caravalho, 86, of Waimea died April 22 at home. Born in Kohala, he was a manager of Kamuela Shell, worked at BioGenics in Kohala, member of Kohala Puerto Rican Club and U.S. Army veteran. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday, April 27, at New Hope Waimea. Celebration of life at 11 a.m. Inurnment at a later date at the West Hawaii Veterans Cemetery. Casual attire. Annette Toshiko Hatakenaka, 94, of Hilo died March 2 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired salesclerk from Shiigi Drug and member of Honomu Henjoji Mission-Odaishisan. Danny Steven Maeda, 76, of Hilo, formerly of Kapaau, died March 7 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Kapaau, he was the retired owner of Aiea Leeward Rainbow Vacuum, a high school woodshop teacher, member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kaumana Ward and U.S. Air Force veteran. Visitation 9-10:30. Saturday (April 20) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Kohala Ward in Hawi. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Hawi County Cemetery. Casual attire.
