HILO 3 – KEA‘AU 0
Hilo High’s boys volleyball team handled Kea‘au in straight sets Thursday at the Cougars’ home court — 25-17, 25-16 and 25-13. It was the Vikings’ fifth win of the season (5-1).
Hilo will next play island rival KS-Hawai‘i at 6 p.m. Tuesday in Kea‘au in a battle of the top two teams in BIIF Division I. The Cougars are still searching for their first win of the year at 0-4, and will also next take the court against KS-Hawai‘i at 6 p.m. Monday at home.

PAHOA 3 – MAKUA LANI 0
The Pahoa High boys volleyball team stayed unbeaten Friday night against Makua Lani — beating Makua Lani 25-11, 25-13 and 25-16 in quick fashion on its home floor.
The Daggers (4-0) have had a hot start to 2024, losing just two sets through their first four games. They’ll look to keep riding their momentum against Honoka‘a, slated for 6 p.m. Thursday in Pahoa town.
The Lions (0-5) will seek redemption against Parker School at 5 p.m. Tuesday at Old Airport.

KOHALA 3 – CLA 1
Kohala High’s boys volleyball squad beat Christian Liberty Academy in four competitive sets on Saturday morning in Kea‘au.
The Cowboys won the first set 25-20, but the Canefire answered back in the next frame by winning narrowly — 25-22. Kohala was able to adjust and win the next two sets, 25-15 and 25-18, to close it out.
The Cowboys now sit at 2-2 near the midway point of the regular season, and will next be tasked with Ka ‘Umeke at 5 p.m. Tuesday at home in Keaukaha.
CLA (1-2) will next travel north to play Hawaii Prep at 6 p.m. tonight in Waimea’s Castle Gym.

HONOKA‘A 3 – KA ‘UMEKE 1
After taking the first set 25-23, Ka ‘Umeke Ka‘eo PCS couldn’t keep its momentum going — falling 3-1 to Honoka‘a High on Friday night in Hamakua.
The Dragons won the following three sets 25-13, 25-20 and 25-21.
Honoka‘a moved to a 3-1 record, and will next head south to Puna for a Thursday night matchup against undefeated Pahoa High.
Ka ‘Umeke fell to 1-3. It’s next outing will be tomorrow at home against Kohala.
