Police investigating shots fired near Hilo bar and restaurant

Police are requesting the public’s assistance with an investigation of an incident during which a firearm was suspected of being discharged in front of a business establishment in Hilo.

On Saturday, March 16, at about 3:34 a.m., Hilo patrol officers responded to a restaurant and bar located in the 1500 block of Kamehameha Avenue after staff members reported hearing approximately two to five gunshots in the area.

Responding officers conducted checks in the area and recovered spent ammunition rounds on the walkway fronting the main entrance of a government building located adjacent to the restaurant and bar.

At this time, there are no reported injuries as a result of the firearm being discharged.
