Geraldine “Gerry” Itsumi Arakaki, 76, of Hilo died Feb. 8 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Lihue, Kauai, she retired as a registered nurse from Hilo Medical Center and Gastroenterology Associates. Visitation 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Celebration of life service at 11 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Roy Nobuo Arakaki, 79, of Hilo died Feb. 28 at home. Born in Hilo, he retired from Hawaii Community College as a Mobile Intensive Care Technician instructor, was a part-time paramedic for American Medical Response and U.S. Army veteran. Veronica C. Calaro, 83, of Hilo died Feb. 7 in Hilo. Born in the Philippines, she was a picker for Hawaii Macadamia Nut Services and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Charles Thomas Kawamoto, 79, of Pahoa died Jan. 30 at a care home in Hilo. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired manager for the former Pahoa Cash and Carry, proprietor of Pahoa Radio Control Hobbies, Wholesale Trophies Unlimited and Paintball Performance Equipment, and U.S. Army and Hawaii Army National Guard veteran, past president of Hui ‘O Puna Jaycees, state archery champion, go kart racer and member of Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday, March 23, at Puna Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, 16-492 Old Volcano Rd. in Keaau. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Born in Hilo, he was a retired sergeant for the Hawaii County Police Department, was previously a Honolulu Police Department officer and member of Keaukaha Ward of Yhe Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Pana‘ewa Hawaiian Homes Association, ‘Ukulele Mo Fun of Hilo and former member of Hilo Junior Golf Association. Visitation 8:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday (March 16) at the Hilo Stake Center of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park.
