Catalina “Marcy” Cabasa, 85, of Hilo died Jan. 23, at Straub Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in the Philippines, she was a social worker for the state and devout member of The Church of God in Hilo. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Thursday, March 7, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Committal service noon at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 Pavilion. Burial to follow. Survived by daughter, Joy (Van) Reyes of Hilo; sons, Joe (Michelle) Cabasa of Keaau and Chris (Brandy) Cabasa of Aiea, Oahu; hanai daughter, Sandra Cordeiro of Kalapana; sister-in-law, Josephina Cabanas of Kailua-Kona; six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Richard (Dickie) “Chico” Carvalho, 79, of Paauilo died Jan. 2 at home. Born in Paauilo, he was a garage maintenance mechanic for the former Hamakua Sugar Co., employee of D&M Hydraulic Services, McDonald’s Waimea, Kona Mazda, Paauilo Nutrition Center and Brantley Center, and member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Friday (March 1) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Honokaa. Mass at 6 p.m. Visitation again 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday (March 2) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Prayer Service at 10:30 a.m. Casual attire; flowers welcome. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Orlando Ildefonso Laurente Dameg, 80, of Keaau, died Jan. 29 at home. Born in Santa, Ilocos Sur, Philippines, he was a juice processor for the former Ka‘u Agribusiness. Momoyo “Peggy” Hamano, 98, of Honolulu, formerly of Hilo, died Dec. 4, in Honolulu. Born in Kapulena, she was retired from the former Hilo Hattie’s Fashion Center and a member of Christ Lutheran Church. Private services held. Survived by sons, Wayne (Laurie) Hamano of Kailua, Oahu, and Paul (Reiko) Hamano of Hilo; sister, Betty Sanehira of Hilo; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Allen “Uku” Hartwell Naea Lindsey, 92, of Waimea died Jan. 20 at a private care home. Born in Waimea, he was a retired cowboy and hunting guide for Parker Ranch, tourist driver for Slim Holt, sugar boat worker in Kawaihae Harbor, and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and Hawaiian Civic Club. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday (March 2) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Waimea. Funeral Service at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at Waimea County Cemetery, Mormon Section.
