Waiakea High School DECA students attended the 2024 Hawaii State DECA Career Development Conference that took place on Jan. 29-31 at the Hawaii Convention Center on Oahu.

DECA (Distributive Education Clubs of America) conferences are targeted, highly focused learning experiences for students in the field of business.

These conferences bring student members into the business industry while providing unique opportunities to extend classroom learning. The conference connects students with professionals engaging them in learning industry-related trends and content.

Waiakea High DECA students competed in various competency and performance-based events and exams in business services marketing, marketing communications, retail merchandising and travel and tourism.

Koa Gambla received a third-place written exam medal, finalist medal and overall third-place trophy in the retail merchandising series event.
