Nephi Kahalewai Akina Sr., 72, of Hilo died Nov. 12. Born in Hawaii, he was a retired U.S. Army sergeant civilian worker at Pearl Harbor. Service 10 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Mauka Chapel, 54-208 Hauula Homestead Rd. in Hauula, Oahu. Burial 1 p.m. at Laie Cemetery, 55-710 Wahinepee St. Survived by son, Ryan Kupono Akina; brothers, John K. Akina Sr. and Brian K. Akina; sisters, Clarice K. Catherine Keahilalapole Kam Lan Chow, 53, of Kapaau died Nov. 8 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. She was born in Honolulu. Spencer “Gino” Eugene Dela Cruz, 72, of Pahoa died Nov. 14 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Honolulu, he was a painter. Glen Lyle Faringer, 93, of Kailua-Kona died Nov. 19 at home. He was a contract administrator for Ryan Aerospace Corp. in Australia. Services at a later date. Clifford Momiola Hose Sr., 87, of Hilo died Nov. 7 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Kealakekua, he was a retired wholesale grocery truck driver, U.S. Marine Corps veteran and member of Disabled American Veterans Chapter 6. Private services held.
