Police are asking for the public’s assistance in locating two teenage girls reported as runaways in separate incidents in Hilo.

Uilani Leaverton, 15, was last seen at 5:35 p.m. July 21 in the 1100 block of Waianuenue Avenue in Hilo. She’s described as Hawaiian with a fair complexion and medium build, about 5-feet-6-inches tall, 145 pounds, with long, wavy brown hair and brown eyes. When last seen, she was wearing a camouflage long-sleeve shirt and black shorts.

Meela Kobashigawa, 14, was last seen at about 10:30 p.m. July 22 in the area of Malanani Place in Hilo. She is described as Japanese with a light complexion and thin build, about 4-feet-10 inches tall, 95 pounds, with shoulder-length red-dyed hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on either teen’s whereabouts is asked to call the police department’s nonemergency line at (808) 935-3311 or Crime Stoppers at (808) 961-8300.
