Celso Dela Cruz Agbayani Sr., 98, of Pepeekeo, died April 28 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center of Hilo. Born in Waipahu, Oahu, he was a retired sugar processing plant operator for the former Hilo Coast Processing Co. and member of First Assembly of God Church in Pepeekeo. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 10, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial noon at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Survived by sons, Salvador (Juliet) Agbayani of Mountain View, Jimmy (Theresa) Agbayani of North Carolina, JC (Lindsey) Agbayani of Honokaa and Steven (Sheena Kobayashi) Agbayani of Keaau; daughters, Rose Agbayani of Hilo and Nancy Carpio of Delano, Calif.; daughter-in-law, Thelma Agbayani of Pepeekeo; brothers-in-law, Melecio (Glory) Mendoza and Alfonso (Remedios) Mendoza of Philippines, Rudolfo (Winifred) Mendoza of Delano, Calif.; sisters-in-law, Sianita Mendoza of Delano, Calif., and Maria Mendoza of Honolulu; grandchildren and great-grandchildren; cousins, nieces and nephews. Katherine Marie Hanson, 78, of Mountain View died March 27. Born in Honolulu, she had a master’s degree in psychology and committed her life to nurturing youth at St. Joseph Catholic School, Boys and Girls Club and Mountain View Elementary School, and was an avid tennis player and traveler. Private scattering of ashes for immediate family only in Pauoa Valley on in Honolulu, to join her beloved parents. Survived by husband, Charles W. “Chuck” Hanson of Mountain View; children, Jerry K. Schweitzer of California and Monique K. Schweitzer of Kailua, Oahu; siblings, Lauren B. Rodrigues and Barney Lindberg of Hilo and Erich P. Melvin Edwin Lehman, 89, of Ookala, formerly of Oahu, Portland and McMinnville, Ore., died May 6 in Hilo. Born in Walla Walla, Wash., he was a retired U.S. Navy lieutenant commander and submariner, retired Prudential Insurance agent, lime farmer and graduate of Oregon State University. Celebration of life noon Saturday, July 15, Mel and Sharon Lehman’s home in Ookala. Survived by wife, Sharon Lehman of Ookala; sons, Stanley (Sherri) Lehman of Vanuatu and Sheldon (Joy San Buenaventura) Lehman of Pahoa; daughters, Lani (Barry) Stanturs of McMinnville, Ore., Crystal McGrath of Kurtistown and Debra Lehman of Salt Lake City; brother, Russell Sherman Lehman of Kensington, Calif.; sister, Joanne Hardy of Brunswick, Maine; grandchildren and great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews, hanai family and foster children.
