Christine Catherine Akina, 71, of Kailua-Kona, died March 25 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, she was a child care provider for PATCH and Malahini Keiki Care and member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Kalani Street in Kailua Kona. Funeral service at 11 a.m. Aloha attire. Survived by husband, Alvin Akina of Kailua-Kona; daughter, Carrie Akina of Kailua-Kona; stepsons, Jesse Akina of Kailua-Kona and Carl Akina of Keaau; sister, Carol Price of San Leandro, Calif.; eight grandchildren; nieces. Brett Williams Lajala, 63, of Niulii, died Dec. 7 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born on Oahu, he worked for Island Harvest in North Kohala and Kohala Institute at I‘ole. Clebration of life 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Saturday, May 13 at Keokea Beach Park in Kohala. Sylvia L. Mahoney, 90, of Kailua-Kona died April 9 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, she was a facility representative for Verizon. No services. Survived by husband, Walter Mahoney of Kailua-Kona; daughter Joshlyn Waikoloa of Waimea. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Charles Sutton Stewart, 72, of Pahoa died March 9. Born in Maryland, he was a retired veterinarian and a member of Chabad Jewish Center of the Big Island in Kona, Reform in Pahoa, ManKind Project and Beit Mishpocha in Washington, D.C.
