YAMAUCHI GOLF TOURNEY ON TAP

The 21st Annual Nobu Yamauchi Memorial Golf Tournament will be held at the Hilo Municipal Golf Course on June 12th (Kamehameha Day).

The registration fee is $140, and entry forms are available at the Hilo Municipal Pro Shop.

VIKINGS NOTCH TWO WINS

Hilo High School’s varsity baseball and softball teams defeated Kohala High School at home matches on Monday afternoon.

The Vikings’ softball team defeated the Cowgirls 5-0 and the HHS baseball team routed the Cowboys 16-3.

Kohala’s teams will look to bounce back today at Konawaena High School. Softball will begin at 1 p.m. and baseball at 3 p.m.

Both of Hilo’s teams will face off against Kamehameha Schools – Hawai‘i tomorrow.

Softball will begin 3 p.m. at Walter Victor Baseball Complex and baseball will be held 6 p.m. at Wong Stadium.

WILDCATS SWEEP CARDINALS

Konawaena High School’s varsity boys volleyball team swept St. Joseph High School Monday night at the Hilo Armory.

The Wildcats dominated all three sets — winning 25-10, 25-16 and 25-13.

Tonight, Konawaena will travel to Hawai‘i Prep to take on Ka Makani. Both teams are among BIIF Division II’s top standings.

The Cardinals will chase a win 6 p.m. tomorrow at Kohala High School.

KA MAKANI TAKES FIFTH SET WIN

Hawai‘i Preparatory Academy’s varsity boys volleyball team edged Parker School to win 3-2 at home Monday evening.

Ka Makani won the first two sets 25-19 and 25-21, but the Bulls found the momentum to win the next two 25-22 and 25-19.

The fifth set saw HPA pull off a narrow victory of 15-12.

Ka Makani’s next match will be at 5 p.m. tonight against Konawaena.

Parker will host Kanu ‘O Ka‘Aina at 10 a.m. Saturday morning.

DRAGONS WIN 3-1 AT HOME

The Honoka‘a High School boys varsity volleyball team won 3-1 against Kanu ‘O Ka‘Aina’s coed varsity team Monday evening at a home match.

Kanu led with a 25-21 win for the first set.

After that, the Dragons won three straight — edging 26-24 in the second set then prevailing 25-12 and 25-18 to win the match.

Kanu will play at Parker School on Saturday morning, and Honoka‘a will be off until next week.
