Otani finishes seventh at Stanislaus

TURLOCK, California – Andrew Otani grabbed his sixth top 10 finish with a No. 7 placement as the University of Hawai’i at Hilo men’s golf team finished ninth in the Hanny Stanislaus Invitational at the Turlock Golf &Country Club.

Otani finished the two-round first day atop the individual leader board after shooting an invite-low 67 in round one. The fifth-year senior shot a 78 in the final round to finish two-over for a three-way tie at No. 7.

Keith Ng also placed in the top 20 after finishing six-over for a tie at 17th place.

The Vulcans found themselves at No. 3 heading into the final round of action but dropped six spots after a 311 third-round total.

Western Washington’s Jordan Lee shot a 70 in the final round to move up four spots to take the individual crown with a minus-four finish.

The Vikings also took the team title with a solid seven-over total. Simon Fraser totaled plus-one in round three to move up seven spots for a runner-up placement.

UH-Hilo will be back in action with the NCAA West Regional Spring Preview April 10–11 hosted by Sonoma State at Foxtail Golf Club in Rohner Park, California.

The Vulcans will then compete at the Pacific West Conference Championships set for April 17–19 in Litchfield Park, Arizona.
