Police identified the body discovered along the shoreline just outside of Hilo Bay near Bayshore Towers on March 14 as 62-year-old Clifford Edward Myers Sr. of Van Nuys, Calif.

Preliminary autopsy results show no signs of foul play. The final results, however, are pending toxicology and additional forensic testing.

Detectives continue to investigate this case as a coroner’s inquest. The circumstances surrounding Myers being on island is also under investigation, as it’s been determined he was a visitor and arrived about a week prior to his death.

Police ask anyone with information about the case or who may have come into contact with Myers to call the department’s nonemergency number at (808) 935-3311 or Crime Stoppers at (808) 961-8300.
