The March Big Island Art Fair will be held this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at the Kahilu Town Hall in Waimea.

The fair showcases art for sale from approximately 20 local artists each day, with styles ranging from acrylic and oil painting, mosaics, ceramic, jewelry, digital art, to photography and more.

In addition to having art for sale, the fair is sponsoring an art contest with the theme “Real or Imagined Springtime Landscape.”

Visitors to the fair will be able to view the submitted artwork and vote for their favorites, with cash prizes being awarded Saturday afternoon to the winning artists.

The fair also will feature demonstration sessions all three days: There will be classical techniques in oil and acrylic by Ginger Sandell, Dov Abrams will be creating some of his bold and colorful graffiti-style art, and Luti Castro will be oil painting on Thursday and Saturday.

Collectively Hawaii will be on-site with their coffee drinks, and on Saturday the Waimea Arts Council will be sponsoring an art project — keiki and all ages welcomed!

Friday afternoon will feature a free drawing for $100 in “Fair-Bucks” redeemable toward any item sold at the fair.

Fair hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Thursday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday, and 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
