The Honokaa Business Association will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday with plenty of festivities on Mamane Street.

“The Luck of the Irish” is a new event for Honokaa and is part of the business association’s new Super Saturday event calendar, which began last year.

“The Saturday events came from the cancellation of Waimea’s Cherry Blossom festival in 2022. A few shop owners said we should try and draw that crowd here for that same Saturday, so we had our first event, Spring Into Saturday,” said Brianna Ronayne, owner of Rising Moon Spiritual Apothecary. “It was such a huge success, we decided to throw one in March for Mardi Gras, and we did that one again in February this year.“

The Honokaa Business Association has a Saturday event planned for every month this year, including Western Week from Friday, May 19, to Monday, May 29, and the second annual Renaissance Faire in November.

“The Luck of the Irish” will feature Irish food, music, games and festivities for people of all ages.

“This event was created to draw people from around the island to our special town of Honokaa,” Ronayne said. “We like to throw themed events to spark the interest of folks who may not normally think of coming to Honokaa, but are interested in an Irish-themed day for the holiday.”

Fudge’n Coffee Cafe, Jaw Jacker Grindz and the Honokaa Public House will be selling corned beef and cabbage for those interested in the classic Irish dish. Shepherd’s pie also will be available outside of Rising Moon.

There also will be several food trucks and vendors with many other kinds of grinds.

Irminsul Harp will be performing Celtic harp in front of Fudge’n Coffee Cafe at noon, and Hawaii Irish Dance will perform traditional step dancing from 2 p.m to 3 p.m. in front of the Honokaa People’s Theatre.

The Craicealite Celtic Band will play in front of the theatre from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m.and again at the Honokaa Public House from 6 p.m. until pau.

Shops along Mamane Street will have drinks and pupus available throughout the day.

The theatre will host yoga at 6 p.m., ecstatic dance at 7:15 p.m., and a “sound bath” to close out the night.
