Daniel Curtis Kama, 85, of Hilo died Nov. 20 in Hilo. Born in Honolulu, he was retired from the state Department of Public Safety, a Kaimuki High School graduate, U.S. Air Force and Army National Guard veteran, avid golfer, community volunteer and founder of the annual Hilo Veteran’s Day Parade. The Rev. Junji “Jay” Suginohara, 72, of Osaka, Japan, formerly of Hilo, died Jan. 31 at Higashi Sumiyoshi Nursing home in Osaka. Born in Fukuoka, Japan, he was a longtime Buddhist minister in Hawaii for Haleiwa Jodo Mission, Kahului Jodo Mission and Hilo Meishoin temples. Funeral services were held Feb. 6 and Feb. 7 at Komyou-ji temple in Osaka. Survived by wife, Tomoko Suginohara of Osaka; sister, Yasuko (Shuntetsu) Haraguchi of Goto, Japan; brother, The Rev.
