Fire officials said that a Monday afternoon fire destroyed an unoccupied house on Stainback Highway in Hilo.
According to a Hawaii Fire Department statement, 10 units responded to the 3:28 p.m. alarm, with the first unit on scene five minutes later.
Arriving firefighters found the two-story structure about 80% involved in flames with a vehicle in the garage fully involved.
A power line was down and arcing, the statement said, but the cause of the fire was listed as “under investigation.”
The estimated property loss was $456,000 with no property saved, according to the statement.
