George Hiroto Abe, 89, of Hilo died Nov. 26 at a private care home in Hilo. Born in Hilo, he was a retired taro farmer, U.S. Army veteran, member of the Kurtistown Jodo Mission and avid bowler. Visitation 1-2 p.m. Sunday, jan. 29, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 2 p.m. Casual attire; face masks requested. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by wife, Joan Abe of Hilo; son, Brandon Abe of Ewa Beach, Oahu; daughters, Shelly (Chad) Ogata of Hilo and Dawna Abe of Kapolei, Oahu; brothers, Albert Abe of Los Angeles and William (Jane) Abe of Arizona; sisters, May Love of California and Kathleen (Wilfred) Arakaki of Pearl City, Oahu; two grandchildren; nephews, nieces and cousins. Arthur Carl Lehman, 93, of Mountain View died Dec. 19 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Milwaukee, he was a retired automobile painter and detailer, member of Aloha Independent Living and U.S. Air Force veteran during the Korean War. Inurnment 9 a.m. Friday (Jan. 27) at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2. Casual attire. Kenny Cortel Javar, 36, of Minot, N.D., formerly of Naalehu, died Dec. 30 in Minot. Born in Pahala, he was the owner of H2O Images, a technician at Tires Plus in Minot and U.S. Air Force veteran. Visitation 9:30-11 a.m. Saturday (Jan. 28) at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Naalehu. Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Burial to follow at the Naalehu Community Cemetery. Casual attire. Wake services at 6 p.m. Visitation again 8:30-10 a.m. Friday (Jan. 27) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Hilo Stake Center, 1373 Kilauea Avenue. Nobuko “Gere” Mimaki, 90, of Hilo died Dec. 12 at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Hilo, she was a retired Waiakea Elementary School teacher and member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, Buddhist Women’s Association, Hawaii State Teachers Association-Retired and National Education Association. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin, 398 Kilauea Ave. Memorial service at 11 a.m. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts).
