A 33-year-old Hilo man is facing sex assault and domestic-related offenses in connection with an alleged altercation on Monday night, police said Thursday.
Jason King Hall is charged with first-degree sexual assault, second-degree unlawful imprisonment and two counts of domestic abuse.
His bail is set at $66,000.
According to police, the charges stem from an incident reported on Monday evening. Officers responded to the Hilo Medical Center after a woman went to the emergency room and said she had been sexually assaulted.
The 27-year-old victim reported being involved in a verbal argument with Hall that escalated to where Hall placed his hands around her neck, impeding her ability to breathe. He also allegedly forced himself on her and sexually assaulted her against her will.
The woman told police Hall refused to let her go to the hospital for treatment.
Hall remains in police custody pending his initial court appearance scheduled for this afternoon in Hilo District Court.
