Police have renewed their request for help locating a man last seen five months ago in West Hawaii.

Landon Fairbanks, 42, was last seen Aug. 3 near “Two Step” beach in Honaunau.

During that sighting, he reportedly parked his car at a nearby home and said he wanted the home’s owner to have his car, going so far as to write a note declaring that he willingly gave it away.

After that interaction, police and emergency responders were called, but they found no sign of Fairbanks.

His mother said in September he had claimed he was going to meet friends, but added that he had few friends and did not visit Two Step often. She also said he had been using prescription medications that he did not take with him when he left, which could leave him disoriented.

He is described as Caucasian, 6 feet tall, 220 pounds with brown eyes and a mustache and goatee. He has a tattoo of a wave on his upper right arm and a half-sleeve of Japanese-style flowers on his left calf.

Police ask anyone with information on Fairbanks’ location to call the police department’s nonemergency line at (808) 935-3311.

Tipsters who prefer to remain anonymous may call Crime Stoppers number at (808) 961-8300. All Crime Stoppers information is kept confidential.
