Michael Ray Flanary Sr., 74, of Captain Cook died Dec. 21 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a self-employed small engine mechanic and owner of Michael Flanary Small Engine Repair. Clifford Iaukea Hokoana, 74, of Pahoa died Nov. 17 at Yukio Okutsu State Veterans Home. Born in Hilo, he was retired from Jas. W. Glover Ltd., a U.S. Army Vietnam War veteran and member of Pahoa Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses. Visitation 9-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 14, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Shizue Kawamoto Iwashita, 96, of Hilo died Oct. 4 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hakalau, she was a retired office manager and corporate secretary for the former Miko Meat Corp., bookkeeper/secretary for W.H. Martina “Sunshine” Mateo, 94, of Honolulu died Nov. 3 in Waipahu, Oahu. Born in Hilo, she was a hotel housekeeper. Visitation 11 a.m.-12:30 Saturday (Jan. 7) at Alae Cemetery Pavilion in Hilo. Hiroshi Morioka, 86, of Hilo died July 1 at Life Care Center of Hilo. Born in Kaueleau, Puna, he was a U.S. Air Force major and worked for the state Department of Social Services. Inurnment took place at National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific at Punchbowl in Honolulu. Survived by wife, Carol Morioka of Hilo; son, Jason Morioka of Honolulu; daughter, Laurie (Kevin) Suzawa of Kaneohe, Oahu; three grandsons; nieces, nephews and cousins.
