Gloria Datuin Mendoza-Watson, 70, of Keaau died Dec. 9 at The Queen’s Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Hilo, she was owner and piano instructor of Mendoza-Watson Piano Studio, director of music Liturgy and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and member of Hawaii Music Teachers Association. Visitation 4-6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 5, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Wake service at 6 p.m. Visitation again 8-9:30 a.m. Friday, Jan. 6, at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Funeral Mass at 9:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park, Ilima Section. Casual attire. Josephine Gordon Mitchel, 98, of Hilo died Nov. 19 at home. Born in Honolulu, she was a a home health registered nurse who worked with her late husband’s medical practice, member of Hilo United Methodist Church, Hilo Peanut Butter Ministry, Visitor Aloha Society of Hawaii Island, Senior Citizen Tennis and Hilo Halai Kumiai. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 7, at Hilo United Methodist Church, 374 Waianuenue Ave. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Carol Ann Nakatsu, 77, of Hilo died Nov. 7 in Hilo. Born in Hilo, she was retired from the former Hawaii Electric Light Co. and a 1962 graduate of Hilo High School. Allan Koichi Okuda, 73, of Hilo died Nov. 25 at Tripler Army Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Hilo, he was a retired culinary arts professor at Hawaii Community College, executive chef at the Hilo Hawaiian Hilo Lagoon and Kona Lagoon hotels, co-owner of the former Kay’s Lunch Center and U.S. Army veteran.
