Dorothy “Lei” Ah Tou, 81 of Kealia died Oct. 21 at home. Born in North Kona, she was retired from the Kealakekua Ace Hardware and a member of St. Benedict’s Catholic Church (Painted Church. Celebration of life held. Survived by sons, Thomas M. Ah Tou Sr. and Mervyn K. Ah Tou of Kealia; five grandchildren and four great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and cousins. Charles “Chuck” Mehau Kaulupali Jr., 78, of Las Vegas, formerly of Keaukaha, died Nov, 28 in Las Vegas. Born in Hilo, he ws a volleyball coach, St. Joseph School alumni, U.S. Navy veteran, champion bowler and avid karaoke singer. Celebration of life 11 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 12, 2023 at Moku Ola (Coconut Island). No flowers. Memorial donations to the Saint Joseph Cardinals athletic program. Survived by daughter Coleen (Eric) Dabbs; brothers, William Yomes and Ron (Charmaine) Ka-ipo; sisters, Ann Nathaniel, Yolande Princeler and Winona Ku‘uipo Dias; caregivers (niece and nephew) Sundae Yomes and Christian Kight; three grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Patrick Lee Kim, 50, of Honalo died Dec. 15 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Los Angeles, he was a high school teacher at Hawaii Technology Academy, Konawaena High School and West Hawaii Explorations Academy, district physical education teacher for West Hawaii and worked at the Marine Mammal Center with response volunteers. Private scattering of ashes at sea. Survived by wife, Selene Kim of Honalo; son, Kellen Kim of Kona; daughter, Payton Kim of Kona; mother, Grace Kim of Irvine, Calif.; brother, Eugene (Suyoun) Kim of South Pasadena, Calif.; stepson, Ty (Amy) Miyasato of San Francisco; two step-grandchildren; two nephews and a niece.
