Hawaii Care Choices, formerly Hospice of Hilo, was recently awarded a $25,000 grant by Richard Robbins and his wife, representing the Max and Yetta Karasik Foundation, to support the increased costs associated with patient care supplies and equipment for individuals receiving hospice care in East Hawaii.
Hospice care is a model for high-quality compassionate care for people and their families facing a life-limiting illness or injury and is intended for people whose illness accompanies a prognosis of six months or less to live.
“Hawaii Care Choices is pleased to receive this grant award and put it towards the direct care and quality service delivery of our patients,” Brenda S. Ho, CEO of the organization, said in a press release. “We are so very grateful to the Karasik Family Foundation and their confidence and support of our work and we believe this generous grant will have significant impact on our patient’s and families’ experience of care.”
