Police have arrested an Ocean View man in connection with a Tuesday domestic incident that left a 3-year-old boy in critical condition.

Ka‘u patrol officers responded at about 11 p.m. Tuesday to report of an unresponsive male child at a residence in Tiki Lane in Ocean View, police said.

The child was transported to Kona Community Hospital and subsequently to Kapiolani Medical Center on Oahu, where he remains in critical condition.

Officers arrested 25-year-old Nainoa Ellis-Noa, the live-in boyfriend of the child’s mother, and he was transported to the Kealakehe Police Station pending further investigation. A female infant in the same house was taken into protective custody.

On Friday, Ellis-Noa was charged with abuse of a family or household member, first-degree assault and second-degree assault. He remains in custody under a $17,000 bail with his first court appearance scheduled for Nov. 7 at Kona District Court.
