From the mountains to the sea, award-winning artists from Denver and Hawaii Island join forces for the Mauka Makai Drag Show on Saturday at Honokaa People’s Theatre.

This Honokaa Business Association fundraiser promises to be an evening of fashion, fun and fabulousness.

Mauka Makai Drag Show was created by HBA treasurer Marysue Joyce, affectionately known in the drag community as Momma Itried. It was her mission to bring together her two favorite things: her kid and her community.

“This show is going to be an absolute blast,” Joyce said in a press release. “These drag stars are so enthusiastic, and they’re looking forward to sharing their artistry with Honokaa. There’s just nothing like a live production. Everyone is welcome, and we’re sure this will be an evening to remember.”

From Denver: Mz. Boogie will be the evening’s MC. She is a multiaward-winning drag entertainer and fashion designer who has designed looks for “RuPaul’s Drag Race” winners Willow Pill and Yvie Oddly. Elise Itried, who describes their persona as a “fashion cryptid faerie,” has been thrilling Colorado audiences for years, winning Hamburger Mary’s, “So You Think You Can Drag,” in February 2022.

From Hawaii: Aaries The Extra will be bringing high energy club kid vibes, show-stopping makeup and fashion to the stage. Tora Hamstring has been dazzling island audiences with her dance, comedy and stunning looks for almost a decade. Luna Eclipse, Miss My Bar 2021, is Hawaii’s own Polynesian dancer, activist, comedian and choreographer.

Admission is $20 for adults, $7 for those 18 and under ($25 and $10 at the door). Tickets are available online at https://MaukaMakai.eventbrite.com. Doors open at 7 p.m.
