A Hilo woman has been charged with second-degree assault after stabbing a man in his leg at a Hilo residence on Monday.

According to a Hawaii Police Department report, Tabree Pea, 34, was arrested Monday after an incident that began around 9:30 a.m., when officers responded to a disturbance at a residence on Puueo Street. Upon their arrival, officers met a man bleeding from his upper left leg who reported that Pea had stabbed him during an argument.

Pea had reportedly fled the scene on foot, heading towards Downtown Hilo. She was located shortly thereafter near the Hilo Library and arrested without further incident.

During the arrest, officers found a bag and a smoking pipe both containing a substance that was determined to be methamphetamines.

Pea was charged Tuesday with second-degree assault, abuse of a family household member and third-degree promotion of a dangerous drug. Her bail is set at $5,000 and remains in custody pending her initial court appearance later today.
