Friday’s meeting of the Board of Land and Natural Resources was postponed because of a complaint evoking the state’s “Sunshine Law.”
Department of Land and Natural Resources spokesman Dan Dennison said via email that the meeting was postponed “out of an abundance of caution” after somebody made a complaint to the state Office of Information Practices, citing the state’s open meetings law, which requires that all government board meetings are open to the public and have agendas and materials publicly available no less than six days before the meeting.
Dennison reported that the complainant was unable to access the meeting agenda or materials before the meeting and filed the complaint. Those materials were viewable online throughout the week, but are currently unavailable following the postponement.
Non-land-related items from Friday’s agenda will be discussed at a special meeting of the BLNR on Oct. 27, with all other items being pushed to the BLNR’s next regular meeting on Oct. 28.
