Masae Kayoda, 92, of Mountain View, formerly of Honokaa and Honolulu, died Sept. 13, 2021, in Mountain View. She was a National Merit Scholar and Honokaa High School, attended the University of Hawaii at Manoa and worked in the tourist and hospitality industries, starting as a waitress at Tropics Restaurant in Waikiki and culminating as an organizer for unionizing hotel and food service workers on the Kona Gold Coast for AFL Union 5.
