John Adam Alapai, 57, of Kailua-Kona died July 5 at home. Born in Kealakekua, he was a truck driver for Big Island Top Soil, Matsuyama Brothers Trucking and West Hawaii Concrete. Private service held. Survived by wife, Phyllis Alapai of Kailua-Kona; sons Tyson (Angela) Alapai of Kalaoa and Ziggy (Jasmine) Alapai of Redmond Wash.; daughters, Melissa (Chad) Chong Tim of Kalaoa, Shayla(Chey) Chong Tim of Oahu and Chanell (Pedro) Castro of Kailua-Kona; brothers, Kekio (Harmony) Alapai of Keaau and William (Laverne) Alapai of Kealakekua; sister, Courtney Alapai of Kahaluu; 14 grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. Julianne Pilahi Losalio, 58, of Honaunau died June 24 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, she was nut sorter and manager for Hawaiian Host Macadamia Nut Co., housekeeper at the former Kona Hilton, coffee picker and member of Pukaana Congregational Church in Kealia. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday, Aug, 13, at Pukaana Congregational Church. Memorial service at 10 a.m. Purple casual attire requested. Kiyoko Sakai, 95, of Hilo died June 17 at Hale Anuenue Restorative Care Center. Born in Olaa (Keaau), she was a former co-owner and manager of the former Hilo Puanani Flower Shop and co-owner of the formerAqua & Aviary Hobbyist, dba Sakai Pet Shop and member of Taishoji Soto Mission in Hilo. Jame “Bubba” Aola Hideo Sakata, 13, of Holualoa died June 24 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, he was a student at Holualoa Elementary School and Kua O Ka La Public Charter School. Donald “Dino” ”Mr. D” Jose Savella, 86, of Pahoa died June 26. Born in Hilo, he was retired from the former GTE Hawaiian Tel and Hawaii County Band, a hunter, fisherman, musical entertainer — both solo and with the David Chung Trio at the former Islanders Night Club — Hilo High School alum, Hawaii National Guard veteran, and worked at Keonepoko Elementary School.
