Dominador “Don” L. Coloma, 87, of Hilo died June 28 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Ookala; he was a retired county deputy fire chief, county housing inspector, county Civil Defense Commissioner, instructor at Hawaii Community College, retired U.S. Army veteran and member of Hawaii Fire Chiefs Association, Akaka Falls Lions Club and Young Men’s Institute in Hawaii. Visitation 8-9:30 a.m. Thursday (July 14) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Mass at 9:30 a.m. Urn committal noon Tuesday, July 19, at East Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 pavilion. Survived by wife, Vivian Coloma of Hilo; daughters, Debbie (Mark Smith) Coloma, Sandy (Darrel) Sato and Francine (David Phillips) Coloma of Hilo; son, Don (Christy) Coloma of Hilo; sister, Connie Cadacio of Oahu; brother-in-law, James Barrietos of Chicago; three grandsons and six great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews and cousins. William “Bill” Derasin, 88, of Naalehu died June 8 at home. Born in Pahoa, he was a welding professor at University of Hawaii at Hilo and retired owner of 3D Welding and B&E Propane. Visitation 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Friday, July 15, at Ballard Family Mortuary. Visitation again 9-10 a.m. Saturday, July 16, at Kauahaao Church, 95-1642 Pinao St., Waiohinu. Service to follow at 10 a.m. Burial to follow at Naalehu Cemetery. Survived by spouse, Eleanor Derasin; stepmother, Anna Quigao of Pahoa; son, Michael (Faith) Derasin of Waiohinu; daughters, Elizabeth “Lisa” (David Poe) Derasin of Ocean View and Sharlene (Clarence Alcoran) DeCoito of Naalehu; brothers, James “Jimmy” (Florence) Kawaihae and Clarence “Choppy” (Anna Hampton) Derasin of California, Albert Derasin of Las Vegas; sisters, Dolores “Dolly” Pacheco of Las Vegas, Virginia (Clement) Ortiz and Sweetland “Lani” Derasin of California, Janice (Jermaine Calhoun) Quigao of Oregon; eight grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and a great-great grandchild. Charles Edward Hacker, Sr., 86 of Pahoa, formerly of Cookstown, N.J., died June 29 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Fayette County, W.Va., he was a retired manager for P.A.D.E. Auto Auctions in Pennsylvania, U.S. Air Force veteran and member of Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion. Services at a later date in New Jersey. Survived by daughters, Marie (Chris) Biss of Suffolk, England and Kasey (Rodney) Eisenhour of Pahoa; brother, Ron (Carolyn) Wolfe of West Virginia; companion, Diane Kaufmann of Pennsylvania; nine grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Alice Akie Smith, 89, of Hilo, formerly of Pearl City, Oahu, died July 4. Born in Pearl City, she was as a retired bartender and waitress for the former KK Tei and Henri’s Restaurants and member of Gaza Yonaguzuku Doshikai. Shoniro Yano, 95, of Honokaa died June 27 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Kawaihae, he was a retired U.S. Army National Guard first sergeant and a member and past kyodan president of Honokaa Hongwanji Mission, member of Big Island National Guard Retirees Assn. and Hamakua Country Club.
