Adoption experience

Recently, my wife and I tried to adopt a smaller dog from Keaau Humane Society.

We were informed by the two ladies, Kim and Meagan, they review the application and that small dogs are strictly house dogs (inside dogs only). I was also told that small dogs need companionship.

I have owned dogs from large to small over a 50-plus year span. My years of experience with a variety of dogs big, medium and small and whatever breed they are, they all need the love.

I have heard and read in the news that all the shelters on the Big Island are over-full. The small dogs get adopted quicker, leaving the medium/big dogs.

We are just trying to adopt a dog that needs a home and give it the love and attention it deserves. I think that they need to review their adoption policy and not force you to adopt a dog you don’t want.

Suicide tourism?

Upcoming elections are critical on every level. Hawaii could become a “death destination.” Past rulings show the overwhelming majority of current lawmakers consider the ending of life as a right.

Hawaii is one of only 10 states along with Washington, D.C., that legalized physician-assisted suicide. Legislation hashing out details for nurses and physician-assistants to write lethal prescriptions and allowing telemedical exams is pending. This could lead to “suicide tourism.”

Correcting the 1973 unconstitutional ruling, the U.S. Supreme Court’s Dobbs decision overturned Roe v. Wade. State lawmakers will decide Hawaii’s abortion laws. Over half of the country already has laws with some abortion restrictions.

With that in mind, Hawaii could become a desirable destination to end the life of an unborn child. Legalizing abortion, even up to full-term, under the current administration could happen.

Before voting, find out the candidate’s stance on these two issues.

“Decide between life and death, between blessings and curses. Now choose life, that you and your descendants will live”(Deuteronomy).

The court’s ruling

Regarding the Supreme Court ruling on abortion: Because the word “computer” does not appear in the Constitution, does that mean all computers are unconstitutional?

How about airplanes? How about phones? How about clothes?
