The Hawaii Police Department said road closures in downtown Hilo for the annual LGBTQ+ Pride Parade route will occur just prior to the parade’s start at 11 a.m. Saturday and will remain in place for the duration of the parade.

The parade route will start at the intersection of Kamehameha Avenue and Ponahawai Street, continuing up to the Ponahawai Street and Kilauea Avenue intersection. The route will then turn right, traveling north along Kilauea and Keawe Street to the Waianuenue Avenue intersection where the parade will turn right and travel down Waianuenue to Kamehameha Avenue. The parade route will turn right and proceed toward Puna on Kamehameha, ending at the commuter parking lot at the corner of Ponahawai.

Police are reminding motorists to drive safely and pay particular attention to pedestrians while the parade is in progress.
