There are still two days to apply for Kaukau 4 Keiki, a summer program that will help provide families with food.

With funding from Hawaii County, The Food Basket is administering $53 in food benefits per week to each qualified family for seven weeks.

Families will receive a $35 grocery gift card and $18 worth of Hawaii-grown produce.

Kaukau 4 Keiki is explicitly designed for families with school-aged children who reside on Hawaii Island.

To qualify, applicants must have a child currently attending a public or charter school on Hawaii Island. The keiki must be eligible for free or reduced-cost lunches and be 18 and under, or up to 22 for children with disabilities.

The program will begin the week of June 20, and conclude on Friday, July 29.

Grocery cards and produce will be distributed at pick-up sites across the island.

Those interested in applying must do so by 4 p.m. on Thursday at https://www.hawaiifoodbasket.org/kaukau4keiki.

Selected applicants will be notified of their enrollment and weekly pick-up location by Thursday, June 16.
