Gov. David Ige recently released $700,000 in capital improvement project funding to finance design and land for rehabilitation of Kolekole Stream Bridge on Hawaii Belt Road north of Hilo.

“I’d like to thank Gov. Ige for releasing funding to finance the design and land acquisition costs in order to begin the process of properly rehabilitating the Kolekole Stream Bridge,” state Sen. Lorraine R. Inouye, who represents the district, said in a statement. “… It’s crucial that this stretch of highway with aging bridges is adequately maintained.”
