Acting Gov. Josh Green has ordered that the U.S. and Hawaii state flags be flown at half-staff as a mark of respect and remembrance of the one million Americans who have died of COVID-19.

Flags will be flown at half-staff at the state capitol and upon all state offices and agencies as well as Hawaii National Guard installations immediately, until sunset on Monday.

Gov. David Ige is in Japan on state business and Green is serving as acting governor until Ige’s return on Friday.

The half-staff order was issued at the direction of President Joe Biden.
