Philemon Kahanu Austria, 93, of Hilo died April 14 at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Haiku, Maui, he was retired from both the Hawaii Army National Guard and Hawaii County Police Department, a fisherman, photographer and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation noon- 1 p.m. Thursday, May 19, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. Funeral service at 1 p.m. Cremation to follow. Graveside urn committal service with military honors noon Tuesday, May 24, at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 pavilion. Casual attire. Survived by son, Wendell Austria of Kalapana; four grandchildren. Florence Nanami “Nami” Miller, 83, of San Jose, California, formerly of Los Angeles and Papaikou, died April 24. Born in Hilo, she was retired from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, an avid reader and music lover and alumna of Hilo High School Class of 1956 and Kalanianaole School Class of 1953, where she was a cheerleader and voted “Best Singer.” She will be buried with her parents, Annie Maika‘i Miller-Hayashi and Sakichi Hayashi at Alae Cemetery. Survived by children, Renee Ann (Alex) Gurza and Nathan John Andrzejewski of San Jose; sisters, Jane Leite of Florida and Amy (Darien) Chung of San Gabriel, Calif.; a grandson; nieces and nephews.

Lorraine Lauriana Yadao, 88, of Kapaau died March 29 at home. Born in Pahala, she was a homemaker, former ballroom dance instructor at the Kamana Seniors Center and member of Retired Seniors Volunteer Program and Hawaii Ballroom Association. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday, May 14, at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by son, Paul Yadao of Kohala; son-in-law, Sam Carvalho of Kohala; daughters, Tina Beleno of Honolulu and Lynettte (Martin Ellazar Jr.) Yadao of Kailua-Kona; brothers, David (Jean) Lauro of Hilo, Joseph (Julie) Lauro of Pepeekeo and Daniel (Audrey) Lauro of Honolulu; sisters, Linda (Arnold) Tengan of Hilo and Violet Bueno of Honokaa; 11 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandchild; nieces, nephews and cousins. Dirk Yoshimi Yoshina, 67, of Hilo died April 25 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired sales representative for Suisan Co., Ltd., a manager for the former Sure Save Supermarkets/Wiki-Wiki Marts, member of the Rotary Club of Hilo, singer with numerous local rock bands, and avid golfer and cook.
