Philemon Kahanu Austria, 93, of Hilo died April 14 at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Haiku, Maui, he was retired from both the Hawaii Army National Guard and Hawaii County Police Department, a fisherman, photographer and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Florence Nanami “Nami” Miller, 83, of San Jose, California, formerly of Los Angeles and Papaikou, died April 24. Born in Hilo, she was retired from the Los Angeles Department of Water and Power, an avid reader and music lover and alumna of Hilo High School Class of 1956 and Kalanianaole School Class of 1953, where she was a cheerleader and voted “Best Singer.” She will be buried with her parents, Annie Maika‘i Miller-Hayashi and Sakichi Hayashi at Alae Cemetery. Survived by children, Renee Ann (Alex) Gurza and Nathan John Andrzejewski of San Jose; sisters, Jane Leite of Florida and Amy (Darien) Chung of San Gabriel, Calif.; a grandson; nieces and nephews.
Lorraine Lauriana Yadao, 88, of Kapaau died March 29 at home. Born in Pahala, she was a homemaker, former ballroom dance instructor at the Kamana Seniors Center and member of Retired Seniors Volunteer Program and Hawaii Ballroom Association.
