John Edward Barsell Jr., 88, of Waimea died April 29 in Waimea. Born in Chicago, he was a deputy attorney general in California and U.S. Air Force and Navy veteran. James “Uncle James” Enoka Branco, 57, of Hilo died April 8, 2022 at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Hilo, he was a heavy equipment operator, owner of Branco’s Farm and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 10-10:15 a.m. Friday (May 6) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Survived by son, Dennis (Tommi) Tokumaru of Santa Barbara, Calif.; daughter, Janet Tokumaru (Dennis Kobata) of Torrance, Calif.; brother, Rick Herman (Carolyn) Sakamoto of Las Vegas; sister-in-law, Connie Sakamoto of Thousand Oaks, Calif.; three grandchildren and two great grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Harriet Ann “Maha” Namahaokalani Kraan, 74, of Kapaau died April 23 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Hawaii, she was a chef at the Mauna Lani Resort. No services.
