James “Uncle James” Enoka Branco, 57, of Hilo died April 8, 2022 at The Queen’s Medical Center on Oahu. Born in Hilo, he was a heavy equipment operator, owner of Branco’s Farm and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church. Visitation 10-10:15 a.m. Friday (May 6) at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Eulogy at 10:15 a.m. Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. Cremation to follow. Aloha attire. Survived by siblings, Robert F. (Grace) Branco Jr., Michael Branco, Verna Tavares, Lola (Gheeza McGhee) Branco, Anna (Curtis) Azevedo and Charlotte De Reis; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Manuel “Badiga” Earle De Silva, 80, of Honokaa died March 24 at home. Born in Honolulu, he was a retired cane operator for the former Hilo Coast Co. Visitation 8-10 a.m. Saturday (May 7) at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, Honokaa. Memorial Mass at 10 a.m. Casual attire. Survived by wife, Linda De Silva of Honokaa; children, Mayleen Martin of Hilo, Natalie (Stephan) Young of Las Vegas, Earl De Silva of Kalopa, Jean (Nicholas Jr.) Garcia of Mountain View, Jane (Nien Tran) Ancheta of Keaau, Lopaka (Nicole) De Silva of Honokaa and Franchelle Hanson of Ainaloa; sisters, Harriet Ramos of Maui and Linda Pugh of Virginia; 26 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews. Margaret Magdalene Hoshida, 68, of Hawi died Feb. 6 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Kohala, she was a retired unit secretary for North Hawaii Community Hospital and former president of the Hawaiian Civic Club in Kohala. Celebration of life 2 p.m. Friday (May 6) at Keokea Beach Park Pavilion in Kapaau. Casual attire. Survived by daughter, Naomi Hoshida of Hawi; sons, Earl (Taylor) Hoshida and Aric (Shaelyn) Hoshida of Hawi; sister, Debbie (Robert) Ellazar of Kohala; four grandchildren; nieces and nephews. John “Uncle Johnny” Joseph Ah Hin Lum Ho, 81, of Hilo, died April 3 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Hilo, he was the kumu hula for Halau O Ka Ua Kani Lehua, a retired licensed practical nurse for Hilo Medical Center and devout Christian. Visitation 9 a.m.-noon Saturday (May 7) at Afook-Chinen Civic Auditorium. Celebration of life at noon. Burial to follow at Homelani Memorial Park. Casual attire; wearing of face masks and social distancing are to be observed. Survived by sister, Dorothy Leite of Hilo; sister-in-law, Naomi Lum Ho; nieces, nephews and cousins. Morris Kieo Nakaishi, 94, of Hilo died Feb. 23 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Kumamoto, Japan, he was a U.S. Army Korean War era veteran, carpenter supervisor for Isemoto Contracting Co., and the former M. Sonomura Contracting Co., and S.K. Oda, member of Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Betsuin and Hilo AJA Bowling Club, bonsai master and instructor at the Kamana Senior Center Bonsai Class, president of the Mokuhonua Bonsai Club, senior advisor for Hilo Bonsai Kyoshitsu, altar decorator for Hanatate special services at Hilo Betsuin and volunteer at Wailoa Visitor Center. Visitation 10-11 a.m. Saturday (May 7) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Memorial service at 11 a.m. Casual attire; no flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by son, Russell A.
