Daniel “Boogie” Aloysius Costa Jr., 85, of Hilo died March 2, 2022 at home. Born in Hilo, he was a retired Honolulu Fire Department captain, sales associate at Sears Ala Moana and U.S. Marine Corps Korean War era veteran. Private services held. Larry Wayne Hernandez, Sr., 74, of Hilo died April 11 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Waipahu, Oahu, he was a retired diesel mechanic for Willocks Construction, U.S. Army Vietnam War era veteran, charter member of Koa Puna Motorcycle Club and member of Hawaii Horses Owners Association, Big Island Auto Club and Hilo Oval Track. Barbara Jean Palmer, 85, of Waikoloa died March 20 at North Hawaii Community Hospital. Born in Kealakekua, she was a newspaper ad inserter for West Hawaii Today, food waitress at the former Kona Hilton Hotel and member of Sonlight Ministry.
