Fresno State batted around against Tai Atkins in the first inning Tuesday, knocking him out en route to a 10-7 victory in Fresno, Calif., that halted the Hawaii baseball team’s eight-game win streak.
Making his second start of the season, Atkins (2-2) recorded just two outs, and the former Kamehameha standout allowed the last five batters he faced to reach. The left-hander was charged with five runs (four earned) on four hits and three walks with a strikeout.
“Tai just didn’t have his best stuff today,” coach Rich Hill said.
His Big Island brethren tried to help the Rainbow Warriors (16-7) battle back in the nonconference game.
Stone Miyao collected his second consecutive three-hits game, DallasJ Duarte continued his hot road trip with a double among his two hits and Jacob Igawa was 2 for 5 with an RBI single.
