Marvin Isaac Banasky, 76, of Mountain View died Feb. 27 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in Portland, Ore. and he was a plumbing supply salesman and grew tropical plants, including bananas and heliconias. Private services held. Survived by wife, Veatrius “Vee” Cress of Mountain View; son, Stanley Lanning; daughters, Janet Frank and Anna Dougherty; sister, Rebecca Smilovitz; 10 grandchildren. Arrangements by Dodo Mortuary.

Bonifacio “Pacio” Corpuz, 73, of Pahala died March 4 at home. Born in the Philippines, he was a nut harvester and irrigation pump operator for the former ML Macadamia Nut Orchard and carpenter. Visitation 6 p.m. Friday, April 1, at Corpuz home. Public viewing 8-10 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Pahala Holy Rosary Catholic Church. Mass at 10 a.m. Friends welcome at the Corpuz residence immediately after the service. Inurnment at a later date. Survived by wife, OlivaCQ Corpuz; children, Rowena (Edgar) Pollante, Remely (Brandon) Kight, Rey (Luzy) Corpuz, Rochelle (Rodel) Abero, Ruby (Gabor) Corpuz-Salla, Rodelyn Corpuz and Katherine (Nathan) Corpuz-Perry; seven siblings; 11 grandchildren; aunts, uncles and cousins. Isaiah Kala “Ikepono” Ka‘aihue Jr., 72, of Honolulu died Dec. 6 at The Queen’s Medical Center. Born in Waiohinu, Ka‘u, he was a retired outreach worker for the Office of Hawaiian Affairs, master lei maker, Merrie Monarch volunteer festival, 1967 Hilo High School graduate and U.S. Army veteran. Celebration of life is 10 a.m. Saturday, April 2, at Kauaha‘ao Congregational Church in Waiohinu. Casual attire; face mask optional; social distancing required. Inurnment to follow at Naalehu Community Cemetery. Survived by sisters, Royenna (Ronald) Yoshimura of Pahoa, Faith Mokiao of Hilo and Abigail Ka‘aihue of Mililani, Oahu; brother Will Mokiao Ka‘aihue of Puna; caregiver, Sheldonaire Hao-Tamon of Pearl City, Oahu; uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and cousins. Patsy Hatsuko Uchimura, 96, of Honolulu died Feb. 28. Born in Holualoa, she was a retired teacher at Honaunau Elementary School. Private service held. Survived by sons, Glenn (Lorraine) Uchimura of Kona and Patrick Uchimura of California; brother, Eichi (Marion) Nakamura of California; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
