Rodrigo “Rudy Boy” Fernandez Borreta Jr., 65, of Waipahu, Oahu, formerly of Hawaiian Beaches, died Jan. 25 in Waipahu. He was born on Oahu. Celebration of life 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday (March 26) at Ainaloa Longhouse. Survived by sons, Zackery (Farrah) Waters, Christopher (Tatianna) Waters and Rodrigo (Waiola) Borreta III, all of Hawaiian Beaches; daughter, Olivia Borreta-Waters (Darrell) of Hilo; stepdaughter, Julie Gonsalves (Adam) of Kapolei, Oahu; brothers, Cisco (Deb) Javar of Kona, John (Ruby) Javar of Ka‘u, Michael (Ku‘u) Borreta of Ewa Beach and Wayne (Claudine) Borreta of Hawaiian Beaches; sisters, Genevieve (Robert) Borreta of Volcano, Bernadine (Tom) Borreta of Hilo, Lorie (Roy) Borreta of Ewa Beach, Oahu, and Luana Borreta of Las Vegas; 13 granchildren and two great-grand children; nieces, nephews and cousins.

Jovencio “Joe” Ulep Collado, 57, of Hilo died Feb. 28 at Hilo Medical Center. Born in San Nicolas, Ilocos Norte, Philippines, he was a registered nurse. Private services held. Survived by wife, Sonia Collado of Hilo; daughter, Taylor-Ann Collado of Hilo; sisters, Lilia (Manuel Jr.) Collado-Mero of Kona, Luzviminda “Mindy” (Randall) Ho of Honolulu; brother, Rogelio “Roger” Collado of Waipahu, Oahu; parents-in-law, Edward and Josephine Espeleta of Maui; brothers-in-law, Teddy (Rose) Espeleta and Edward (Shelly) Espeleta of Maui; sister-in-law, Judy (Danilo) Savella of Maui; nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. Elizabeth “Peka” Halualani, 89, of Hilo died Feb. 12 at her daughter’s home in Pahoa. Born in Papaaloa, she was a homemaker and member of Kauhane Hemolele Oka Malamalama Church. Visitation 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Sunday (March 27) at Dodo Mortuary Chapel. Funeral service at 1 p.m. Committal service 9 a.m. Monday (March 28) at Hawaii Veterans Cemetery No. 2 Pavilion. Norman Ahapaeaina Schenck Kalima, 87, of Hilo died Jan. 15 at Legacy Hilo Rehabilitation and Nursing Center. Born in Hilo, he was a retired chief agent for Hawaiian Airlines, professional musician with “The Hilo Kalimas,” U.S. Army veteran and 1952 Kamehameha School for Boys graduate. Private services held for immediate family. Public drive-by visitation 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Sunday (March 27) at the Kalima ‘ohana hale, corner of Andrews and Nahale-a Avenues in Keaukaha. Kimiyo Miyashiro, 98, of Hilo died March 14 at home. Born in Hilo, she was retired from Hawaii Electric Light Co. and a member of Church of the Holy Cross. Private services held. Mae Hatsuko Okinaga, 87, of Hilo died Jan. 8 at a private care home in Hilo.
