Steven “Uncle Steve” Gregory Abreu, 80, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 27 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Eleele, Kauai, he was a retired carpenter, fisherman, waterman, former member of Kai ‘Opua Canoe Club and Waikiki Beachboy. Paddle-out scattering of ashes 9:30 a.m. Sunday, March 27 at Laaloa, also known as White Sands Beach. Celebration of life immediately to follow. Survived by daughter, Stephanie Robinson-Boisse of California; sisters, Margaret Sampaio of Honolulu and Elizabeth Seal of Virginia; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Christine Estelle Bean, 57, of Holualoa died Jan. 18 at Stanford Health Care in Santa Clara, Calif. Born in Hilo, she was a foundation manager and property operations director, Teach for America Hawaii board member and advocate for cultural preservation of Hawaii.
