Police have arrested 30-year-old William Lawrence of Kailua-Kona for a firearm incident shortly after midnight on Wednesday.

Kona Patrol officers responded to a 12:38 a.m. report of an individual was shooting a firearm in the parking lot of a Kailua-Kona apartment complex in the 74-900 block of Manawalea Street.

According to police, Lawrence got into a heated verbal argument with a 23-year-old man and subsequently discharged one round from a shotgun. Lawrence then allegedly pointed the weapon at a 34-year-old male bystander.

No one was injured.

Officers arrested Lawrence without incident and police say investigators recovered the firearm used in this incident.

Lawrence was charged with first-degree terroristic threatening, first-degree reckless endangering and two firearms offenses. His bail was set $55,000 and he was scheduled for an initial court appearance Thursday in Kona District Court.
