Chiyono Kobayashi, 100, of Kealakekua died Feb. 8. Born in Hilo, she was the retired owner of the former Yamada Furniture Store in Kona, a member of Kainaliu Makai Kumi, former state Health Commissioner, former president of the Kona Business & Professional Women’s Club and a registered Republican. Drive-thru celebration of life 1-3 p.m. Sunday, March 27, at Club Rehab Mauka Clinic, 79-7422 Mamalahoa Hwy., site of the former Yamada Furniture Store. Private inurnment services will follow. Anthony Wayne “Tony” “Bozo” Martines, 78, of Kailua-Kona died Feb. 18 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Honolulu, he was a heavy equipment operator for Kona Construction and member of Operating Engineers Local, a waiter at Kona Inn and the former Kona Surf Hotel, member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and U.S. Army veteran. Visitation 9-10:30 a.m. Friday (March 4) at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints pavilion in Kailua-Kona. Service at 10:30 a.m. Burial to follow at Kona Memorial Park in Holualoa.
