Konawaena crushes Mililani in HHSAA girls basketball quarterfinals

Konawaena, the BIIF Division I girls basketball champion, smashed Mililani, the OIA runner-up, 56-24 in the quarterfinals at McKinley High on Oahu.

Kaliana Salazar-Harrell scored 24 points, and Braelyn Kauhi added 11 for the Wildcats (9-0), who play Lahainaluna, the MIL champion, in the semifinals at 5 p.m. Friday at Moanalua High.

Campbell, the OIA champion defeated Waiakea 44-39 in overtime when the Sabers outscored the Warriors 8-3.

Avery Snyder scored 13 points on 5 of 11 shooting, and Jolie Mantz added 12 points on 4 of 11 shooting for the Warriors (8-4), who play Maui at 5 p.m. Friday at McKinley High.

In Division II, Hanalani, from the ILH, slipped past Hawaii Prep 51-50, despite Ka Makani outscoring the Royals 21-10 in the fourth quarter.

Kaila Kaahu scored 18 points, hitting three 3-pointers, Kyana Brucelas added 15 points, and Brooke Samura had 12 for Ka Makani (7-1), who play Kauai at 7 p.m. Friday at Waipahu High.

BIIF runner-up Kamehameha ousted Honokaa 57-25.

The Warriors (7-4) play Kalaheo at 3:30 p.m. Friday at Waipahu High.
