Lloyd Cowles, 52, of Keaau was arrested on numerous drug and gun charges after police executed a narcotics search warrant on a Hawaiian Paradise Park home.

According to police, officers found a loaded semiautomatic pistol, ammunition of various calibers, a total of almost a half-pound of dried marijuana, methamphetamine residue, heroin residue, methamphetamine and marijuana smoking pipes, and various drug paraphernalia.

Cowles was charged with being a felon in possession of a firearm, two counts of being a felon in possession of ammunition, two counts of third-degree promotion a dangerous drug, second-degree promotion of a detrimental drug, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

At Cowles’ initial court appearance Wednesday, Hilo District Judge Kanani Laubach maintained his bail at $96,000 and ordered Cowles to return to court Friday for a preliminary hearing.
