Dennis “Acro” Simon Acoba, 71, of Kailua-Kona died Oct. 10 at Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center in Honolulu. Born in Pepeekeo, he was a diesel mechanic for Bacon Universal and E.M. Rivera, co-owner of J.A.D. Equipment Repair and U.S. Army veteran. Services were held. He is survived by his wife, Lily Acoba and daughter, Tangee (Jonny) Acoba-Varron, all of Kailua-Kona; hanai son, Peter Queja of El Cajon, CA.; brothers, George (Esther) Acoba of Gardena, CA., David (Dean Lee) Acoba of Oahu; sisters, Linda (Jim) Gore of San Diego, CA., Patricia Arrojo of Papaikou; sister-in-law, Suzie Acoba of Los Angeles, CA.; 5 grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Warren Cornell Leorin, 45, of Kailua-Kona died Dec. 3 at Kona Community Hospital. Born in Ka‘u, he was a heavy equipment operator for Hawaiian Earth Products and groundskeeper for Nanea Golf Club. Visitation 9-11 a.m. today at Dodo Mortuary Chapel in Hilo. Casual attire. Survived by mother of son, Faith Spinney; son, Kaulana Kamanawa of Kailua-Kona; father, Salvador Leorin of Naalehu; sister, Tia (John Ceron) Leorin of Dixon, Calif.; brother, Chad (Elizabeth) Leorin of Jacksonville, Fla.; hanai children, hanai grandchildren, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. Taeko “Kuni” Kunimitsu, 93, of Hilo, formerly of Honomu, died Dec. 13 at home. Born in Honomu, she was an operating room supervisor and registered nurse at the former Hilo Hospital and member of Honomu Hongwanji Buddhist Temple, HGEA Bowling League and Kamaaina Hawaii Club of Orange County, Calif. Private services held. No flowers or koden (monetary gifts). Survived by companion, Ellen Kawano of Hilo; brothers, Norio (Linda) Kunimitsu of Honolulu and Arthur (Elsie) Kunimitsu of Honolulu; sisters, Yoriko Ishii of Honomu, Kazuko Firebaugh of California and Miyoko Kunimitsu of Honolulu; nephews, nieces, grandnephews, grandnieces, a great-grandnephew and a great-grandniece. Edgar Masaaki Torigoe, 87, of Hilo died Nov. 26 at home. Born in Osaka, Japan, he was a retired vice chancellor for administrative affairs at the University of Hawaii at Hilo and member of Kaumana Terrace Community Association. Private services held.
