The Hawaii Police Department is requesting public assistance in identifying a vehicle believed to be involved in a mail theft in Leilani Estates.

On Dec. 13, Puna patrol officers responded to an incident in the 13-3000 block of Nohea Street in Leilani Estates, where a homeowner reported that an unknown vehicle had entered her driveway and an occupant of the vehicle had taken an unknown amount of mail from her mailbox.

Officers learned that an occupant of the vehicle had also removed an item from the residence’s garden before leaving.

The vehicle is a blue four-door multipurpose vehicle, possibly of Honda make. The vehicle is missing a hubcap on its front driver-side tire. A similar vehicle was reported in association with other mail theft incidents in Hawaiian Shores and Hawaiian Beaches.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact Officer Dwight Walker III at (808) 965-2716, or call the police department’s non-emergency line at (808) 935-3311.
